Trust Issues

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” Proverbs 3:5(NIV)

To permit or receive direction from anyone demands trust in the person. This implies you must trust that the person knows the destination you are heading to and that he or she will not misguide you. Trust is known to be one of the foundations and pillars of any successful relationship. As a result, if we will have a successful relationship with God that will cause us to receive accurate direction from Him, we will have to trust Him. Oftentimes our prayerlessness and minimal desire to have a deeper personal fellowship with God can be attributed to our lack of trust in Him. We rather want to pursue our own plans than to consult Him, for fear that He might not give us what we want and will mess up those plans and ambitions.

For many others who sense the call of God on their lives, there is some sort of fear that trusting Him to lead them will mean that they might end up in ministry as lay ministers or in full time ministry(contrary to their life goals). Consequently, they will rather avoid inquiring about God’s purpose for their lives and finding out what He called them to do. Personally, when I felt in my heart to start a youth ministry, I was uncertain as to how it will turn out to be. I had no details whatsoever. The only detail and ingredient I had was trust. Today, what started with only 3 people in a classroom is now reaching and impacting many more young people than we could ever imagine.

Can you trust Him to give you what you need when you ask Him for what you want? Can you trust him to lead you to make the right decision regarding your education, career path, business, ministry, relationship, and marital choice?

Trust is a prerequisite for receiving divine direction and so the question is, do you have trust issues? Are you willing to let yourself go and simply trust in the Lord?
