There are a lot of Christians who have knowledge. The world is full of the Word of God. You can hardly find a Christian who has never heard about the Word of God. However, what the world lacks, is people who are obeying the Word. We have Christians who know and can explain what God has said—but not a lot of Christians who are obeying what God has said. Yet, what God is seeking as a response to His Word, instructions and direction, is obedience.

Consider Abraham, Noah, Moses, David, just to name a few, who are all people who God used in the Bible and you will find that the unique CHARACTER that distinguishes them and many others who were used by God was OBEDIENCE. It is impossible for God to lead you if you refuse to follow His instructions.

We cannot walk in God’s will for our lives if we choose to disobey. Obedience to God’s Word and directions will set us apart and align us with God’s purpose for our lives. When God says pray for a friend, apologize to someone you offended, move, go, stay, sow a seed, speak, stop, be quiet—what is your response?

When God says “blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness” (Matt. 5:6) and God instructs that more than anything else, put His work first and do what He wants (Matt. 6:33)—what is your response?

Jesus said to his disciples: If you love me, you will do as I command. John 14:15

We cannot say we love God and disobey Him. Until we obey God’s Word and directions, it will almost be impossible to move on to the next level in our ministry, careers, academics, relationships and every area of our lives.

In this season where it seems like 2020 is “canceled”, it should excite you to know that God is still blessing those who are seeking Him, receiving directions and OBEYING.

God is calling you and I to the place where we obey Him because directions not followed by obedience (to the direction) will prove futile. What has God placed in your heart or spoken to you about that you are yet to obey?
